You want that deep, cozy heat, but you don’t want it to feel like a spotlight is shining directly into your eyes. Standard shortwave lamps are bright. Like, really bright. For an adult, it’s annoying. For a baby with sensitive eyes? It’s a no-go. The trick to fixing the glare We handle this by messing with the light spectrum. Instead of just letting the lamp blast everything it’s got, we use special quartz glass or internal coatings. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for your heater. It filters out that harsh, blinding light but lets the heat waves slide right through. You still feel that immediate warmth on your skin, but the light stays soft. No flashing, no squinting. Just heat. Dealing with the steam Bathrooms are basically torture chambers for electronics. Between the splashes and the thick steam, things can go south quickly. That’s why we stick to an IP44 rating. In plain English? It means the unit is sealed up tight against splashes from any angle and keeps out any stray bits of debris. We use silicone gaskets and sealed cables to keep the moisture out of the guts of the machine. If steam leaks into the wiring, you’ll see rust and burnout almost immediately. Not a great look. The catch (because there’s always one) Here’s the thing: when you filter out the light to protect your eyes, you lose a tiny bit of efficiency. You might find that an “eye-safe” lamp needs a bit more juice to feel as warm as a standard, unfiltered one. If you’re swapping out your old lamps for these, just double-check your wiring.
