Dealing with the Heat

That leads to stress fractures and a very short lifespan for your equipment. Keeping the lamp dry and isolated just makes the whole thing last longer. One thing to keep in mind: heat builds up inside that shield. Since the quartz traps a bit of warmth, the lamp runs hotter than it would in open air. You’ll want to make sure your power supply can handle those thermal loads so you don’t fry your connectors.
Making it Work on the Fab Line
When you drop these shielded lamps into a fab line, you’re basically turning a potential fire hazard into a steady, reliable heat source. It’s a huge relief for anyone managing “Zone 1” or “Zone 2” hazardous areas. Sure, the shielding takes up a little more room in your assembly.
